Doctor Who Returns

Even if old farts like myself constantly harp on about pre-Christopher Eccelston episodes and former Doctor's being the best along with the stories they were part of, in truth I think the recent set  have been by and large spectacular.

Steven Moffat has a highly contemporary slant on story telling in that all he writes is fast paced with more twists in the plot than the knot of Cordium.

Last nights return of our favourite time traveller saw a slump in viewer figures of some 2 million. Why is beyond me. This episode, the first of two and entitled 'The Magician's Apprentice' was par excellence. The cast, especially 'Missy' were strong. Stavros and the Daleks were back and even though I personally grow tired of the Daleks the story was less about them than it was the personal relationships of Missy and the Doctor but also the Doctor and Clara and the Doctor and Stavros.

If you don't like the Doctor, well, fair enough, but if like me you do then this was a sure footed start even in view of the show losing viewers.
