Whether the Paralympians came first, third or last is a moot point. The fact they came third is a magnificent achievement. By beating their target of 103 medals they outshone themselves. That they did it so magnificently is to be marvelled at. They have shown the world again, in a matter of weeks what the Olympians had ably demonstrated, that Great Britain may be small but it is large of heart.
Jimbob and I watched the repeat of the first show in the new Doctor Who season. It was appalling. It featured the Daleks who, as the Doctor’s arch nemesis, demand and deserve a big story. They are after all the creatures who seem indestructible. The story was lame, failing in oh so many ways not least of all a rather limp story with an obvious conclusion. The second episode, which we both watched the following evening, was far better. It had all the hallmark twists and turns with some keenly observed British eccentricities thrown in in.

The family return home tomorrow from their holiday in Turkey. Well, not Tweezil and CC Blue as they have their own place but Thumbscrew, Squid and Jasmine.  It will be good to see the girls again.
