Today the sun beat down as I read “Half a Yellow Sun” which in itself seems remarkably appropriate. With only days before I start my new job and as the Olympics are now due to begin very soon, the summer has turned truly golden. My personal situation remains unchanged. There is not the slightest chance it will ever change. Too much unpleasantness has been done or said by both parties which have left a very dark cloud hanging over all our heads. It is a sadness shared. Even if the vacant apology for a home stands as testimony to what once was, the love has gone.
In the face of such unadulterated hate being sorry, genuinely so, is next to useless. Hatred has its own flame to fan fuelled by hurt, followed by anger that turns to rage. Saying sorry has the same effect as throwing a bucket of water onto a forest fire.

Tomorrow the men come to insulate the walls of our home and all for free. If only they could insulate our hearts.
