Last night Mum looked a lot better than on previous visits. She was sitting up in bed and instantly recognised me greeting me with a smile. She said she had not been too good today but she looked a lot better. She then asked me to clean her dentures. Fantastic! I am such a wimp when it comes to things like that. I hate the thought of touching something covered in another’s saliva. As manfully as I could and with a fixed smile on my face I did as asked. When finished I gave the bloody set back to Mum who promptly popped them into her mouth. I then scrubbed my hands furiously before coating them in that gunk hospitals have situated at every entrance/exit. Not my kind of thing at all but I suspect I need to get used to the idea as Mum is going to be bed bound for some time yet.

Definitely better news today Russell!
I've been in nursing for over a decade now and mouth care still makes me cringe. Well done!
Hi Michelle and Paul,
Paul. Absolutely. Slow steps but each one better than the last.
Michelle. I so admire what you do but I couldn't do it. For my mother, yes but not for any old Tom, Dick or Harry.
